The mighty Geoff Farina is probably best known for leading the Boston-based post-punk, post-rock, kinda prog-jazz band Karate. We're old friends having toured together in the '90s, so it was nice to hear Geoff had relocated to Chicago a few years back. Last year, I played drums with Geoff and bassist Pete Croke (Brokeback, Pink Avalanche, Tight Phantomz) on about ten of Geoff's new songs. We tracked the songs at the wonderful Minbal in Chicago and Geoff did overdubs, vocals and production a few months later in Boston at Andy Hong's studio. Thalia Zedek of Come dropped in to lay down some backing vox. In the meantime, my schedule changed so I moved on from the band, but the good news is that the record is finally out.
